What comes back

A sample test: a made-up calendar app’s landing page, shown to nine people for five seconds. They were asked what it does. Pick a row to read the whole answer.

4 of 9 got it. 3 partly, 2 missed.

An old lab test, put online

Psychologists have flashed pictures at people and asked what they saw since the 1800s, using an instrument called a tachistoscope. Usability researchers moved it to web pages: five seconds, then a blank screen and a question.

Questions

What is a five-second test?

People see your landing page or mockup for five seconds before it disappears. Then they answer a few questions from memory, like what the product does and who it is for. It shows what visitors actually take away before they decide to stay or leave.

What do the testers see?

Your page, exactly as you uploaded or captured it, for the time you set: anywhere from 3 to 10 seconds. Then it is hidden and your questions appear.

Can I test a Figma mockup before writing code?

Yes. Drop in any PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF export from Figma or your browser, up to 5 MB. No code or tracking script needed.

Can I test a live page instead?

Yes. Paste its address and we capture a screenshot of the page for you, then you choose the questions.

Is it really free?

Yes. You get six credits to start with no card, which covers a test with five answers. Rate other people's pages to earn more, or pick a monthly plan if you need answers on a deadline.

Who tests my page?

Real people on FiveSecondRoast, rating each other's pages. We filter out bots and low-effort answers so you only see genuine first impressions.
